What is Grafting? Why Do It?

The idea of grafting is to create a single living unit by joining the grafting stock to another's rootstock.

The strength and growth characteristics of the rootstock will be combined with the grafting stock's capacity for fruiting and blooming to create a new plant.

All rootstocks provide nutrients and energy, but they are no longer able to alter the characteristics of the plant.

When to Start?

Grafting takes place during the spring. Select the plants developed in the previous year to use as your grafting stock or the stems you wish to graft with new roots.

  • Lock the blades when not in use.
  • Clean and dry after each use to prevent rust.
  • Sharpen blades regularly for efficient and safe cutting.

  • Clean After Each Use - Remove sap, dirt and plant residue using a damp cloth or brush to prevent rust and sticky buildup.
